After serving in a variety of children’s healthcare roles over the last 23 years in Louisville, KY I decided to start a network of offices dedicated to Direct Primary Care for the sake of the patients, their parents and pediatricians. There had to be a better answer for families frustrated with getting timely access to their pediatricians and then having limited time for dialogue with pediatricians who are often burned out from seeing 20 plus patients per day. The model has received growing acceptance for adults on the national level with very few pediatric practices adopting this model. However, it is growing! In our research regarding the ideal model we have learned there are a variety of ways to do such but 2 themes prevail: hire the best doctors who have a passion to spend time with their families and then limit the number of their patients.
